Corporate PR & CSR - Weetabix
Objective:
- As a responsible food production company, The Weetabix Food Company wanted to develop and launch a corporate social responsibility policy with set targets to achieve against a specific timeframe.
Strategy and plan:
- Nexus worked with the client to develop the contents of the corporate social responsibility policy. Working alongside the Carbon Trust, Nexus reported on the carbon footprint of The Weetabix Food Company, energy reduction, procurement policy, water management and transport emissions.
- Pledges were also established for packaging use and excess packaging, landfill commitments, nutrition, marketing and labelling.
- A form of measurement for each category was created with targets set against a specific time, to be reported back on within 12 months.
- Nexus drafted the report, commissioned the photography and graphics, and worked on the layout with the designers.
Results:
- The Weetabix Food Company corporate social responsibility policy was published in August 2008 with pick up from The Grocer and other trade media. The report formed the basis of a drip feed of information to the national press, positioning The Weetabix Food Company as a business with sound environmental credentials.
